TCL Ghana is a fast-growing consumer electronics company and leading player in the global TV industry. Founded in 1981, it now operates in over 160 markets globally. According to Sigmaintell, TCL ranked 2nd in the global TV market in terms of sales volume in 2019. TCL specializes in the research, development and manufacturing of consumer electronics products ranging from TVs, audio and smart home products.

Our History

The history of TCL is one that shows a lot of hardwork, determination and perseverance.

In 1981, TCL originally registered as TTK Home Appliances Co. Limited, was founded. In 1999, TCL went global and entered the VIetnam market.

In 2004, the TCL Corporation went public. TCL then acquired Thomson TV and Alcatel mobile phones. In 2007, TCL reorganized its European business units and released new brand strategies, and in 2008, TCL produced its first LCD module.

In 2009, TCL completed the infrastructure of 8.5th gen LCD panel for its subsidiary CSOT.It also iIntroduced the world’s first 3D Internet TV, becoming the No.1 TV exporter in domestic market.In 2010, TCL maintained No. 1 among TV brands in domestic market with a brand value of USD 6.46 billion.And in 2011, the TCL-CSOT 8.5th Generation LCD panel line started production.

In 2012, the TCL-CSOT released the 110- inch screen, and entered the North America TV market in 2013.

In 2014, TCL initiated the “Double+” strategic transformation that brought together two concepts, the “Smart + Internet” and the “Products + Services”, and restructured its overall business into 11 business divisions: 7 divisions for products, 3 divisions for services and one division for venture capital and investment.

In 2015, TCL was named “Global TV Brand Top 20”, and “Global Top 50 CE Brands” by IDG. TCL also received titles of “Global TV Brand Top 20”, and “Global Top 50 CE Brands” from IDGin the same year. TCL then became the official sponsor of the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA).

In 2016, TCL celebrated its 35th anniversary. It then collaborated with SEMP to found the joint venture SEMP TCL in Brazil. TCL received the Quantum Dot Technology Gold Award of 2016 IFA Product Technical Innovation Awards.In the same year, TCL became the Official Home Theater Supplier (Official TV) of NBA’s Minnesota Timberwolves and Lynx. TCL- CSOT started construction of the top generation of TFT-LCD panel production line G11, known as t6, with a total investment of USD 6.56 billion.

2017 was a year that saw TCL boast of many awards, some of which are highlighted below:

• TCL became IDG’s 2016-2017 Global Top 50 CE Brands at CES 2017.
• The TCL X1 TV, X2 TV Series and RC800 Series Remote received the iF Design Award 2017.
• The TCL C2 Series received Red Dot Award: Product Design.
• TCL’s C70 TV won the “BEST BUY 2017-2018” from EISA.
• TV XESS/85 X6 won “Quantum Dot Technology Gold Award”, a 2017 IFA Product Technical Innovation Award.

In the same tea, TCL established joint venture with leading Argentine home appliance brand RV.

In 2018, football superstar and sensation Neymar Jr. became TCL’s Global Brand Ambassador. CSOT joint-invested USD 6.03 billion in its second G11 panel production line, known as t7. TCL Multimedia Technology Holdings Limited officially changed its company name to TCL Electronic Holding Limited. TCL announced global partnership with the International Basketball Federation (FIBA). And there were more awards for the company, including the award TCL’s X8 won; the “Display Technology Gold Award”, a 2018 IFA Product Technical Innovation Award.

In 2019, TCL becomes the regional partner of the CONMEBOL Copa América Brasil 2019. TCL started construction on new integrated manufacturing base in Binh Duong, Vietnam. ESPN and TCL unite to create ‘Born a Legend’ video series to inspire global community through sports.
