Accra Grammar School (AGS)

The Accra Grammar School (AGS) was founded by Mrs. Elizabeth Ahenkorah, who believed in the power of education to change lives. In 1996 he conceived of the idea if AGS, established to give students a unique American international school experience that would prepare them for admission to schools, colleges and world wider. Years later, our founding values knowledge, discipline and access to all remain the hallmarks of an AGS education. AGS is proud of its community-school feel and the shared sense of belonging amongst students, teachers and parents. In addition to our rigorous academic program we know our strong sense of family is important to prospective parents.

Our Mission

Since its inception, AGS has endeavored to provide a quality education for a multi-national community. The curriculum is based on internationally recognized principles. Internationalism is the cornerstone of our learning environment. We want our kids to be able to compete at any level, anywhere, any time.

Providing the tools of communication and technological skills to navigate in a globalized society, and motivating students to develop a positive attitude towards life- long learning, and developing responsible global citizens.

Fees Breakdown

Annual school fees consist of tuition, transportation fees (if applicable), after school program, lunch and snack. Students meeting admission criteria will be invoiced immediately upon acceptance. All fees are payable in advance and are due on or before the student's 5th day in school and are paid on a trimester basis.

Scholarships

Accra Grammar School's has limited need based and academic excellence scholarships for selected students. Currently the school offers scholarships to about 30 students. The school also accepts students from NGO's and philanthropists from all over the world.

AGS' Staff

Faculty members are carefully chosen from qualified teachers who are dedicated to academic excellence and the development of the whole child. In addition to professional credentials and experience, they are trained to implement AGS’s program within its environment of small classes, consistent classroom management, and individual student attention. Teachers are selected on the basis of broad educational background and affinity with AGS’s philosophy, plus training and ability in their particular subject area. All our teachers have at least a professional degree, with many also holding advanced degrees. AGS seeks individuals who are kind, loving, enthusiastic, dedicated, articulate and creative, and who can serve as outstanding personal role models for our students. Equal measure of attention and quality is extended when staffing supporting roles at AGS. The school is thus proud of its high-quality staff as evidence of their commitment and work is self evident.
