The application and issuing of Passports are the sole responsibility of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration.

How to apply for a Ghana Passport;

Below are guidelines for acquiring a Republic of Ghana Passport. To complete an application you have to purchase passport forms online via Mobile Money or Visa/MasterCard.

• Ghana Passport Application Types;

Currently, four types of applications exist, which are;

1. Expedited Application 48 Pages - GHS 200.00
2. Expedited Application 32 Pages - GHS 150.00
3. Standard Application 32 Pages - GHS 100.00
4. Standard Application 48 Pages - GHS 150.00

• How to apply for a Ghana Passport as a First Time Applicants

What you need to apply for the passport:

1. Birth Certificate (Proof of Ghanaian citizenship).
2. Documents to support Identity such as Driver’s Licence, National ID card.
3. Proof of Profession (An introductory letter from the applicant’s employer that is if the applicant is currently employed or a work ID card that bears the applicant’s name, organisation’s name and position. A student ID if the applicant is currently in school. Homemakers/housewives and applicants that are unemployed and those in the non-formal sector of employment like mechanics, hairdressers seamstresses, traders etc. do not need proof. Registered Business Owners and self-employed applicants must produce their business registration certificate as proof)

• Ghana Biometric Passport Renewal Requirements;

What you need to apply for the passport:

1. First page and bio-data page with picture and information page.
2. Valid Visa if applicant has any in Old Passport.
3. Last page.
4. Proof of Profession if changed.

• Black Books Passport Renewal Requirements;

What you need to apply for the passport:

1. First page (Coat of Arms and Director's signature).
2. Biodata page with picture and information.
3. Valid Visa if applicant has any in Old Passport.
4. Profession page.
5. Proof of Profession if changed.

• Missing Passports Replacement Requirements;

What you need to apply for missing passport replacement;

1. Police Report.
2. Affidavit.
3. Proof of Identity.
4. Birth Certificate.

• Damaged Passport Replacement Requirements;

What you need to apply for the passport:

1. Old damaged passport.
2. Affidavit.

• Change of Name

What you need to apply for the passport:

1. Marriage/Divorce Certificate.
2. Affidavit.
3. Gazette.

• How Applicants below 18 years can Apply for Ghana Passport;

What you need to apply for the passport:

1. Birth certificate.
2. Parents or Guardians ID.

Application Journey for all Ghana Passport Applicant Types

1. Open the Ghana.gov website
2. Click on Passport Office
3. Click on “Apply”
4. Click “OK”
5. Click on “Sign Up” at the right corner of your screen
6. Enter your personal details
7. Click on “Continue” after completing the details
8. A One Time Password (OPT) would be sent to the phone number provided during the registration.
9. Enter the OTP and hit “Continue”
10. Click on “Apply”
11. Search for the Passport Office
12. Click on “Apply”
13. You would be redirected to a different page
14. Click on “Authorize” to enable the application share your details with the Passport Application portal
15. You will be redirected to the passport application platform to either Make Payment or Verify Voucher

Payment Channels for Ghana Passport Processing Fees (Banks & Their Respective Channels)

1. Ecobank Ghana - VISA & MasterCard, MTN Mobile Money, Vodafone Cash.
2. GCB Bank - Vodafone Cash.
3. Ghana.Gov - Branches nationwide.
4. Zenith Bank Ghana - MTN Mobile Money, Vodafone Cash, VISA & MasterCard.

List of Passport Application Centres in Ghana

Upon submission, Applicant's biometric data will be captured and a picture taken at the Passport Application Center (PAC). PAC locations are below:

1. Accra PAC: Kinbu Road (Old Foreign Affairs).
2. Kumasi PAC: Guggisberg Road, Opposite PWD, Adum, Ministries.
3. Takoradi PAC: Ghana Immigration Head Quarters (Within the Regional Administration).
4. Sunyani PAC: Adjacent to Jubilee (shares a wall with the Park).
5. Ho PAC: Regional Administration (Shares building with Immigration).
6. Tamale PAC: Police Park (Old Library).
7. Ridge PAC: Ridge.
8. Premium PAC - Accra: Accra Digital Center, Adjacent State Housing Company, Ring Road West, Accra.
9. Tema PAC: Former IRS Office, Community 4, Tema.
10. Koforidua PAC: PWD Office, SSNIT Office Area, Koforidua.
11. Premium PAC - Kumasi: 2nd Floor, Thankful Heights Building, Adum, Kumasi.
12. Premium PAC - Tamale: 2nd Floor, Pension Tower, Tamale.
13. Cape Coast PAC: Opposite Ford Station.
14. Wa PAC: Block C, Regional Coordination Council, Wa.

Applicant will then be given a date for the collection of the Passport.
